MONA ELDIN - Family Medicine in PONTIAC, MI

Despite good health and a reasonable level of fitness, some people may still have a body with disproportionate contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to family traits rather than a lack of weight control or fitness. Dr. ELDIN uses liposuction to slim and reshape specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving your body contours and proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image. In some cases, liposuction is performed alone, in other cases Dr. ELDIN uses plastic surgery procedures such as a facelift, breast reduction or a tummy tuck. Liposuction is not a treatment for obesity or a substitute for proper diet and exercise. It is also not an effective treatment for cellulite, the dimpled skin that typically appears on the thighs, hips and buttocks, or loose saggy skin. A number of different types of liposuction are available. Traditional liposuction is frequently called the tumescent technique. With tumescent liposuction, fluid is injected into the fatty tissues that includes novocaine for numbing and epinephrine to minimize bleeding. Ultrasonic liposuction is also frequently called Vaser liposuction. With ultrasonic liposuction, sound waves disrupt the fat cells leading to rupture or
Doctor ELDIN performs liposuction, which is the removal of excess body fat by suction using special surgical equipment, in Michigan, to contour and help reshape the body.
Although considered to be "minimally invasive", liposuction is a surgical technique that is used to improve the body's shape by removing excess fat from deposits located between the skin and muscle.
The typical liposuction patient in Michigan is over 18 years of age, has excess fat deposits not responding to diet and exercise, and would like to change the contours and proportions of their body.
Liposuction can have a dramatic effect on the shape of the patient’s body. Results are usually visible immediately, and improvement will continues as the swelling subsides during the first few weeks.
It is important to remember that liposuction is not a substitute for diet and exercise, a fix-all for obesity, or a cure for cellulite. It is a surgical procedure that can help reduce fat from certain areas of the body at different points in time. There are other procedures that can address further issues, like a tummy tuck or breast reduction, that Dr. ELDIN also performs at Michigan if desired. If you have any questions about this, feel free to speak with Dr. MONA ELDIN about it any time.
During the liposuction procedure, a small, thin stainless steel suction device, called a cannula is inserted through very small incisions in the skin into the fatty tissue. The fat is removed as the suction tube creates tiny tunnels through the fatty layers. After surgery, these tiny tunnels collapse and result in an improved body shape. Liposuction is done on an outpatient basis and general anesthesia is frequently offered for patient comfort. The liposuction procedure can last anywhere from one to five hours, depending on the area or areas being treated and the amount of fat being removed.
Normally the patient goes home with a compression garment covering the treated areas. It is advised to wear these compression garments for about a month to reduce swelling and help achieve a smooth result. Once pain and soreness decrease, it is frequently more comfortable to wear lycra or spandex pants. Initial discomfort is easily controlled with oral medications, and most patients find that they quickly resume normal activities. The stitches usually removed in 5 to 10 days. Antibiotics may be prescribed to prevent infection.
Different sensations such as numbness or tingling are common for weeks after the surgery. It is important to walk as soon after surgery as possible to help prevent blood clots from forming in the legs and strenuous exercise should be avoided for at least a month after surgery.
Patients should start to feel better after about 1 to 2 weeks and typically patients return to work within a few days of the surgery. Bruising and swelling usually go away completely within three weeks.
Dr. MONA ELDIN will check your progress at Michigan through follow-up visits. If you have any questions or problems between office visits, do not hesitate to call. Your new body shape will begin to emerge in the first couple of weeks; however, the final result takes shape over 3 to 6 months.
Liposuction is considered cosmetic and therefore is not covered by insurance. The cost of this procedure has many variables such as the geographic location and the expertise of the surgeon. Other factors that will affect the cost are the size of the patient, amount of time and effort required of the surgeon, cost of anesthesiologist's services, operating room fees, and laboratory fees. All of these factors will play a part in determining the cost of your liposuction procedure in Michigan, but costs typically range from $2,000 - $7,000, depending on the area being treated and other items mentioned above. Doctor ELDIN will be happy to go over the costs in detail during the pre-op visit.
